Datacom has an excellent reputation for looking after their people, and given our current growth there is plenty of opportunity for skilled professionals.
We have grown to be one of Asia Pacific’s leading locally-owned IT-based service providers. As a New Zealand-owned company, we have managed to maintain a small business feel that is often diluted in larger organisations. It’s our people that give Datacom its unique culture and that buzz you can feel from the moment you meet with us.
As part of a team of Solution Architects, you will play a key role in major software development and integration projects with some of our largest clients. You be responsible for the design of the application from a technical perspective to ensure the complete success of the projects and ongoing use of the application.
This involves:
- Understanding the client's technical environment, existing processes, problems and needs
- Preferably with .NET or Microsoft product experience e.g. SharePoint, BizTalk or large-scale integration project solution architecture experience
- Leading the Requirements Discovery stage, analysing any existing non-functional requirements documentation
- Understanding all aspects of the functional requirements and leading any technical communication, meetings and workshops for this stage
- Producing drafts of the architecture documents, and managing the review of those documents with the client, achieving approval and signoff
- Reviewing architecture documents with the Datacom project team and ensuring the team has clear understanding of what is expected of them
- Quality control
- Being a key contact point between the Datacom project team and the client technical team for anything regarding technical design, and identifying any changes in scope to the Project Managers.
What we are looking for:
We need an experienced Solution Architect with solid experience in a large-scale apps environment, with associated complexity of requirements, stakeholders and technology.
We look for enthusiastic team players who can rapidly understand the client's needs their technical environment and existing processes, and work out what needs to be done to turn business needs into solutions. We like people who aren’t afraid to roll up their sleeves and be involved in the sorting of the problem, not just design with the broad expertise to dive into detail when needed. Most importantly you’ll have the confidence to voice your opinions, and take ownership of issues and outcomes.
The ability to produce quality architecture documentation, and lead/manage the review of those documents with the client, achieve approval and signoff is essential. Given the nature of the vendor environment, we’ll be looking closely at your ability to navigate around our diverse stakeholders and communicate across a diverse range of people, both internal and external.
We prefer an understanding of the Microsoft technology stack but the focus will be on your overall compatibility with what we’ve asked for above.
