100 percent service availability is the hallmark feature of Datacom’s Christchurch data centre. The modest-sized facility has withstood devastating earthquakes, snow storms, and record winds, all without disruption to customers’ IT systems. Key to this success story is the robust design of the plant room equipment, which provides dual-power feeds to every rack, each fed from separate UPS systems via independent switchboards. Our backup generator with automated power changeover switching has proven to be 100 percent reliable during the numerous street power outages resulting from over 12,000 earthquakes since September 2011. To guarantee fuel supply under the most demanding situations we own a trailer-based fuel tank that we can tow to nearest out of town fuel station.
Seismic bracing ensures every data centre rack and all plant equipment remains in place, even during the most violent earthquakes. It’s an essential feature when designing for maximum up time.
The Christchurch data centre facility can be considered a “boutique” data centre, modest in size, which enables us to provide the highest standard of service to our customers.
