Datacom’s Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) is part of the Government Common Capability ICT (CCICT) framework, and provides a hosted and managed cloud infrastructure solution that allows eligible New Zealand Government agencies to consume ICT infrastructure as required. Infrastructure as a Service is designed to provide better value, increased reliability and a level of business agility not usually achievable by individual agencies.
Benefits
Infrastructure as a Service is designed to provide the following benefits:
- Lower cost – Infrastructure as a Service is generally more cost-effective when compared to an individual agency buying, building and running their own infrastructure
- Business agility – IaaS allows agencies to scale infrastructure up and down to meet current demand, rather than build to meet anticipated peak consumption
- Performance and reliability – Best-of-breed compute, storage and networking designed to deliver unmatched service availability and performance
IaaS
Our Infrastructure as a Service catalogue is comprehensive, enabling agencies to pick and choose from a range of products. Products can be purchased individually or as a solution and include:
- Data centre services – Our two Tier 3+ service level facilities are situated in geologically sound locations and are complemented by two Tier 2 facilities
- Utility compute - Compute resources can be provisioned as required to meet agency demands
- DevCloud - A complementary service designed to help you test your apps using lower cost IaaS
- Block Storage as a Service - Multiple tiers of storage for a range of performance/price requirements
- Datacom Object Storage - low-cost, next generation with broad API support including compatibility with Amazon’s AWS S3 API
- Backup as a Service – Backup Storage from your network using advanced deduplication technologies
Agencies interact with services through the Datacom Cloud Services for Government Portal. Because we’ve developed the portal we have complete control of the tool’s functionality and roadmap.
