Datacom has extensive experience in providing equipment staging and deployment services. Over the past five years we have built and deployed approximately 25,000 PCs, thin clients, servers, printers and point-of-sale devices. As such, we have developed mature, made-to-order processes to meet business outcomes, acknowledging how important accurate asset control, quality assurance and working to deadlines is within a deployment or refresh project.
To start every project on the right track we have a dedicated Configuration Centre where hardware is staged and device images preloaded (via a secure LAN connection or other method) and then bundled and shipped by our logistics team which is co-located in the same centre. We have established quality assurance processes for each phase from imaging and shipment to installation and test, which are all customised to customers’ requirements.
Examples of past deployments include:
- 837-location, 5,565-device deployment in two months (40+ tonnes of equipment)
- Firmware upgrade of 1,500 EFTPOS units at 1,450 locations
- Installation of 985 new EFTPOS Terminals at 985 locations
- 69 Location, 1,500 machine, XP to Windows 7 migration
- Four-year ongoing PC Refresh programme for a 3,500 PC environment which proactively identified end-of-life equipment in the business on a monthly basis and replaced them
- 42-location, 4,000-device full hardware and operating system upgrade to virtual desktop with thin client, PC and laptop end user devices
- Project management of deployment and ongoing support for 600+ location Digital Signage installation
