Mobility is remaking business and customer interactions on every screen. When we think about mobility at Datacom we think about the entire mobile experience.
This means from design and usability to app implementation, and all the other complexities to solve in between. We have world-class people who live and breathe these technology skills on a day-to-day basis.
What we do is design bespoke mobile applications and integration for business, with a real strength in enterprise.
We aim to solve business problems, handling mobile integration to other systems and enterprise back-end systems, identity and access management, leveraging the cloud, and device management.
Through our pedigree and passion for mobility, we’ve developed some key strengths and best-practice accelerators and methodologies that our customers can leverage off of:
- Ruggedised and field force
- Self-service productivity
- Holistic digital experience
Ruggedised and field force
Microsoft’s Windows Mobile operating system, based on Windows CE, is still by far the most popular on the field force and ruggedised devices. Datacom has recognised this long-term trend from the early days, even before email on mobiles was possible. We’ve built up a mature product, named mRoute, that offers reliable messaging and capabilities to satisfy the unique requirements of these field force mobility scenarios. This product is widely used in New Zealand by courier drivers, truck drivers and people in manufacturing plants on a daily basis.
We’re constantly innovating in the field force space, and in recognition of the new breed of ruggedised devices arriving with the Android and Windows 8 operating systems, we’ve built a tool, named mRoute Studio, which allows rapid prototyping and development of mRoute apps that work across Windows Mobile, Android and Windows 8.
Self-service productivity
Capturing information through mobile devices is a big part of our self-service proposition. We’ve developed an easy-to-use product as part of our Datacom Customer Connect suite that allows users to produce forms that may be presented on a website, or on a variety of mobile platforms including iOS, Android and Windows 8.
The mobile forms leverage the power of the mobile device and offer an online and offline experience, as well as the ability to capture location (GPS), photos (camera) and audio notes.
This information is then captured in an easy-to-use format that may be integrated into back-end systems, or may be emailed in PDF format for manual processing. Our mobile forms product is offered as an online service, which means getting forms setup and going is easy, efficient and cost-effective.
Holistic customer experience
Datacom is well known for its delivery capability. Our capability does not stop at the ability to deliver. The disruption caused by some of the recent trends in the digital world (consumerisation of mobile, cloud, social media) has positioned us as thought leaders that our clients can rely on to guide them through the changing digital world. We’ve got a team of digital strategy consultants who are able to produce digital strategy documents that align with business objectives, are lean and pragmatic and can be delivered through a roadmap.

We use our mobility expertise to simplify processes and satisfy end users so you can focus on what’s important: growing your company. We immerse ourselves in our customers’ businesses, and with our pragmatic mindset, we deliver highly-functional and effective experiences that our clients and their users love.
