The Storage Engineer role is to provide our customer base with complex technical maintenance and support services
Role Responsibilities:
- ITIL incident, problem and change processes
- Support Storage Infrastructure (including installation, configuration, upgrade, patching, and maintenance & monitoring).
- Perform upgrades on applicable hardware, OS and software
- Design & implement system security standards, system backup procedures, and other recovery processes in accordance with the company's compliance, disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
· Identify gaps in existing service delivery for relevant technologies and initiate and drive SIP to address the gaps.
- Develop effective working relationships with other members of the team to ensure the best team outcome.
- Liaise directly with team members, clients or other third parties to obtain required information or decisions.
- Perform work after-hours where required
Skills required:
- High level of initiative, time management and self-confidence along with strong verbal and written communication skills is important.
- Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
- Skills in communicating effectively orally and in written format
- Able to work autonomously with minimal supervision or with a team
- Experience with storage trend reporting
- Experience in storage related technologies such as replication, deduplication, snaps, and hierarchical storage
- SAN reporting tools, HP Storage Essential, SSSU, HP Systems Insight /manager,Brocade SAN health/surfer
- Experience with SAN storage monitoring/management software
- Experience configuring and supporting of large enterprise SAN
- Ability to prioritise tasks
- Configuration of SAN and NAS components, including, but not limited to EMC Unity, HP 3PAR, NetApp, IBM V7000, QNAP, PowerPath and system Host Bus Adapters (HBA).
- Ability to research and articulate recommended solutions and technology
- Must be a team player and be able to follow processes and procedures
