Service Asset and Configuration Manager

The Role
Service Asset and Configuration Management ensures that all groups that maintain the data and relationships for the service architecture they are responsible for, have done so with the level of integrity required.
Reporting to the ITSM Manager, the objective of the Service Asset and Configuration Manager is to act as the process subject matter expert and provide ITIL aligned Service Asset Management and Configuration for our client.
The Service Asset and Configuration Manager will build relationships with Senior Management, Business Managers, Operations/Technical Management and Teams, Other ITSM Process Managers, and vendors.
The key objectives and responsibilities of the role include performing the following functions for both Service Asset Management and Configuration Processes:
- Managing Hardware Asset Lifecycle
- Managing Configuration Lifecycle
- Implementing the policy and standards, documenting and developing where necessary
- Evaluating existing processes and implementation and management of new/improved systems for efficiency and effectiveness
- Agreeing scope of the process functions, the items that are to be controlled, and the information that is to be recorded
- Ensuring that the methods and processes are properly approved and communicated to staff before being implemented, this includes running process workshops
- Managing the principles, tools and processes, and their implementation
As the Service Asset and Configuration Manger, you will ensure that:
- Assets are uniquely identified with naming conventions;
- Staff comply with identification standards for object types, environments, processes, lifecycles, documentation, versions, formats, baselines, releases and templates
- Process interfaces with change management, problem and incident management, release management, logistics, finance and administration functions
- Accurate population of the asset DB; manages the asset DB, central libraries and tools; ensures regular housekeeping of the asset DB
- Provides reports, including management reports
- Proactively proposes solutions to address identified business needs within the clients’ business environment
The ideal candidate is someone with 5+years’ in a similar role and organisation. We are looking for someone with the following skills and experiences:
- Knowledge of asset and configuration management within large Government IT networks
- Sufficient understanding of technologies to be able to ensure that all assets are accounted for, their configurations recorded and audited and that the configuration standards are correctly adhered to
- Excellent verbal and written communication with solid influencing skills
- Professional writing and reporting
- ITIL Foundation V3
- Diploma in Computer Systems Engineering
- Ability to work both autonomously and as a part of a team with a commitment to teamwork and collaboration
- Flexibility towards work and role
- High attention to detail
- Solid time management abilities
The following skills and experiences will be high desirable but not essential:
- ITIL qualified in Service Transition
- Detailed understanding of other ITIL methodologies
