The Operations Engineer role is to monitor systems including Windows, UNIX, Database and backups in real-time on a 24x7x365 rotational basis and to effectively and successfully manage Priority 1 and Priority 2 outages to the customer's environment

  • Accepting, prioritising and managing Incidents and Requests.
  • Real-time monitoring of all infrastructure for availability, capacity and performance
  • Monitoring and Reporting
  • Prompt detection, resolution and escalation of incidents
  • Perform role of primary After Hours Major Incident Manager across the Mon – Fri (5:00pm – 7:00am – 12 hr shifts) and 24x7 weekend support periods.
  • Ensure information in Service Desk tickets are up to date and contain comprehensive details in reference to the major incident.
  • Exposure to DR methodologies and planning
  • Assist Service Desk Analysts with customer calls during periods of high demand
  • Professional in appearance and manner
  • Able to produce accurate and concise technical documentation
  • ITIL V 3 Foundation

Skills required :

  • Experience with Microsoft Exchange 2007 & 2010 will be highly regarded
  • Extensive experience with DNS/TCP IP, DHCP etc.
  • Exposure to ITIL (Foundation Certificate Preferred)
  • MCSA/MCSE/MCITP highly regarded
  • SCCM experience highly regarded
  • Understanding of Network infrastructure components(desirable)
  • Exposure to automated system monitoring/management tools
  • Exceptional problem solving skills and Customer service skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work well within a small team
