About the Role
Our QLD Managed Services department is currently seeking to employ a Network Engineer / Security Analyst to join their high performing team of Networking and Security professionals. The primary objective of the Network Engineer / Security Analyst position is to deploy, test and support network and infrastructure as well proactively manage vulnerabilities, reporting and provide unique insight to our wider business on emergent security threats across all of our Managed Service and Cloud environments.  The successful candidate will be proficient in networking disciplines (such as routing, switching and firewalls) but also be able to extend their thinking to provide, coordinate and lead security analysis pertaining to our security reporting, vulnerability management and its triage.
 
The responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:
General:
  • Service Delivery compliance with ITIL v3 best practices such as:
  • Knowledge Management – technical analysis and support, documentation, training and knowledge sharing
  • Availability Management -  designing and testing to ensure availability targets are met
  • Event Management -  using Enterprise monitoring tools
  • Patch Management – ensure devices are technically current by applying the latest teted and approved firmware
levels;
  • Problem Management -  including proactive reduction of incidents
  • Incident Management – reactive, rapid support to incidents that may arise;
  • Change Management – complying with Change Management processes and attending to scheduled CAB Meetings
  • Ensuring customer satisfaction thought the prompt and professional management of all customer service requests; and
  • Identifying and implementing service improvement initiatives to deliver increased automation and value to the business.
  • Infrastructure Management - remote and onsite management of QLD controlled network infrastructure
  • Technical Support – providing technical support and responding to technical escalations for networking delivery for routing, switching and firewalling products
 
Security:
  • Primary ownership of QLD’s security initiatives such as review and analysis of security reports, leadership of client meetings and reporting, coordination and management of vulnerability triage;
  • Proactive research and leadership of zero day threats and their impacts;
This position will require the successful candidate to be available for on-call support on a rotational basis. The successful candidate must also be willing to occasionally work after hours when support is required. Occasional travel may be required.
 
About You
To be considered for this position, you will need to possess the following:
  • Proven experience working on networks and server environments including hosted topologies
  • Strong working knowledge of common network protocols
  • Strong knowledge of security concepts, procedures and policies
  • Experience with firewalls and load balancers
  • Exposure to network switches and routers
  • Exposure to Linux systems
  • Strong exposure to non-related disciplines such as UNIX, Databases and Windows platforms in order to be able to provide detailed insight on emergent threats
  • Able to interpret and analyse data provided
  • Able to work in a dynamic IT outsourcing environment
  • Excellent teamwork skills and work with other technical teams; and
  • Demonstrated experience producing weekly and monthly reports on network and security initiatives including progress reporting.
Experience in ITIL best practices would be highly regarded.
 
The successful candidate will ideally hold the following certifications:
  • Current Cisco Network–CCNA or higher
  • Current Windows– MCSE or higher; and
  • CISSP (or be working towards).
