Datacom is pleased to announce Nilesh Magan as the winner of this year’s Datacom Imagine Cup Scholarship. The scholarship offers Mr Magan a paid three-month internship and an additional three months continuous mentorship working in Datacom’s Microsoft/Azure group in Auckland.
Microsoft’s Imagine Cup is an annual competition that empowers the next generation of computer science students to team up and use their creativity, passion and knowledge of technology to create applications that shape how we live, work and play. Datacom offers this scholarship to students to put their theoretical learning into practice in real-world situations and the opportunity to work on real projects.
Mr Magan is in his third year of a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Systems Engineering at the University of Auckland. He will complete the internship during summer of this year and then go on to complete his final year of studies. Mr Magan was part of team that won the 2017 Microsoft Imagine Cup with web-app GroupCram, which allows students to collaborate on past exam papers in real time.
Sunny Katira, Associate Director of the Microsoft/Azure group says, “The sheer quality of applications we received far exceeded our expectations. We chose Nilesh as the winner of this year’s Datacom Imagine Cup Scholarship because of his enthusiasm and ambition to learn and excel in IT, while also demonstrating strong interpersonal skills - he has a great level of confidence and is someone we can put in front of clients naturally.”
Datacom has offered the Imagine Cup Scholarship since 2011, with outstanding results from the winners. We would like to thank everyone that entered this year and wish you all the best for entering in 2018.
