“Global export supply chain is a complex business and it’s all about managing large volumes of data. The future is about making export supply chain solutions easier for our customers to use and that has put digital transformation at the core of our business strategy,” said Kotahi Chief Executive David Ross.
Kotahi is re-shaping the way Kiwis take their goods to the world, including seafood, meat, dairy, hides, timber and pharmaceutical products.
By pooling the container cargo of over 40 leading exporters and importers, Kotahi optimises the supply and demand of freight transport enabling New Zealand to better compete in international markets.
“We chose Datacom because our previous work together had given us confidence in their capabilities. Datacom’s expertise and professionalism throughout our Azure cloud migration was outstanding.”

“Our new customer online order and tracking system represents the first step on our customer experience journey. It is tightly integrated with our CRM system giving customers access to data from their mobile device whenever they need it. Our vision is to automate where possible, provide customers more clarity and ability to serve themselves online, while enabling our teams to focus on adding value to our customers’ supply chains,” David Ross said.
Cloud-based Microsoft Azure was selected as Kotahi’s cornerstone platform in its digital strategy.
Azure offered benefits including reliability and flexibility ready for any challenge; security at a best-in-class standard with ongoing provision of updated patches.
It also gave Kotahi the ability to develop and deploy its own cloud solutions; while its analytics and automation capabilities will continue to support Kotahi’s digital evolution.
Kotahi Enterprise Architect Lauren Percy said, “Moving to Microsoft Azure provided us with the opportunity to simplify interactions across our digital ecosystem and enhance our ability to innovate, create new solutions and further improve customer experience”.
By April 2017, 100 per cent of Kotahi’s applications and infrastructure had been migrated without any impact on productivity and uptime or risk to crucial data and services.
Kotahi Service Delivery Manager Ryan Hodgson said, “Azure’s integration allowed us to quickly set up new development, testing and production environments which was key to Kotahi’s digital transformation journey. This allowed us to deliver solutions in an agile manner”.
