Datacom Systems has over 50 years' experience in technology and we have grown to be one of Asia Pacific's leading locally owned IT based service providers. Due to organic growth at Datacom, we require a Technical Team Lead to join our National Cloud Services team on a permanent basis.
In this role you will be responsible for the ongoing technical leadership to proactively manage our various cloud platforms. This role will suit a hands on professional technical Engineer with deep technical skills across a range of technologies including EMC storage, VMware and Cisco UCS.
You will provide technical leadership and guidance to the Infrastructure Engineers as well as be the escalation point for assisting with the resolution of complex problems. You will have a strong customer service focus and seeking ways to optimise and automate processes to improve quality within the team.
Responsibilities:
- Ensuring best practice frameworks are in place to carry out day to day operational activities
- Ensuring control practices are in place to optimise, manage and maintain the integrity of all our client's systems
- Assisting with the development and implementation of our business strategy as it relates to National Cloud in line with market and industry change
- Reporting: ensuring all operational documentation is managed and prepared for the customer and senior management as required
- Ongoing management and delivery of the various Datacom Cloud Services cloud platforms to agreed OLAs / SLAs
- Proactive support and management of the Cloud Solutions infrastructure platform (i.e. compute, storage, hypervisor and backup/restore)
- Participation in 24x7 management escalation roster
- Driving operational availability of the Cloud Solutions platform(s) to 100% and putting in place the required back end processes, procedures and improvements to meet this ongoing target
- Provide technical leadership to the team through coaching and mentoring team members with monthly one-to-one meetings
Skills and Experience:
- Previous Team Leadership experience of a large geographically dispersed team
- Technical expertise in two of the following: Cisco UCS, VMware and EMC Storage (VMax and XtremIO)
- Cross skilled and able to support an infrastructure stack comprising of Backups, Server, Storage, Hypervisor, Network & Application layers. Key focus on Storage, Backups and hypervisor
- Hands on experience with of storage platforms from EMC (Symmetrix / VMAX / VNX / Data Domains) - including associated protocols and applications
- Deep understanding of virtualised environments running on VMWare, Hyper-V or other hypervisors and knowledge of enterprise backup management systems
- Extensive knowledge of ITIL: creating and rolling out of processes, change management and project management.
- The ability to work toward positive solutions by having an ability to bring people (peers and team members) and teams together to develop solutions that maximise value for all stakeholders
- Strong financial management practices with a clear understanding of the relationship between costs, utilisation and revenue
- Ability to Coach, Mentor and develop technical staff
- Ability to present complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Degree in IT (preferred) or business with industry certifications such as VMWare VCP (Cloud / Datacentre) and/or VCAP and/or EMC Certification in at least 1 of the following: VNX, Symmetrix/VMax, XtremIO or Data Domain
