At Datacom, we manage some of the largest clients and run some of the largest IT projects in NZ and our Security Operations Centre is looking for Security Analysts to join us during this growth period. The Cybersecurity space continues to be a massive growth area and there are some real opportunities to utilise your current skills and develop your security career.

We’re looking for people with an understanding of Security Operations Centres (SOC) or CSIRT environments and the core technologies we use.

The Role

The Security Analyst, Level 2 is a member of the Auckland Security Operations Centre and is primarily responsible for analysing security events of interest before managing the incident through to resolution or identifying an opportunity for tuning.

The core objectives and responsibilities of theSecurity Analyst, Level 2 include (but not limited to):

  • Incident response investigation
  • Handle Events of Interest escalations
  • Identify tuning opportunities
  • Use case development
  • Identify policy changes required based on analysis
  • Threat hunting
  • Identify additional log sources
  • Identify data enrichment opportunities
  • Gather data for security incident report
  • Participating in a 24/7 after hours roster for P1 and P2’s (one in six weeks rotation)
  • Other administrative tasks as required

The Person

  • A minimum of 2-4 years IT experience; at least two of those years focused on IT security platforms.
  • Previous experience within a SOC environment is essential
  • Hands-on experience with: vulnerability scanning, firewall, antivirus& malware analysis, proxy, IDS/IPS, log correlation tools, SIEM, DLP, NAC, and application firewall solutions.
  • Proven working experience in building and maintaining security systems.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise, network, system and application level security issues.
  • Proven experience in supporting, designing and implementing security controls which safeguard and monitor events for information systems, enterprise applications and data
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field, or a combination of education and experience is essential
  • Ability to grasp new security technology concepts quickly and assist others in understanding them as well
