Datacom’s Orbit Data Centre located in Auckland’s North Shore is a purpose-built Tier 3+ facility independently certified by the Uptime Institute and others. No other data centres in New Zealand have this level of certification and approval. The scores achieved put Orbit in the highest echelon of data centres worldwide for the effectiveness of our management and operational practices.
We have absolute commitment to data centres, as seen through the investments we have made; we designed, own, build, manage and run Orbit ourselves. ‘Enduring performance’ is a key phrase in our data centre vision. We are sure that our data centres can deliver everything you ask of them, not just now but for the next 20 years.
Orbit data centre is designed to be fault tolerant, so there are no single points of failure. We can handle any piece of equipment failing without an outage to the IT equipment. It’s also concurrently maintainable, meaning we can maintain, or even completely replace, any system or plant without suffering an outage. We never expect to have to ask you for an outage in the lifetime of the facilities.
We provide Telcos with the ability to deliver fibre into both the Orbit and Kapua data centres via fully diverse paths into the buildings which offers the ability to run synchronous SAN to SAN replication and other high speed network services.
At Datacom we believe that establishing an eco-system of IT service providers at our data centres provides unequalled flexibility and choice for our customers. For that reason we are committed to long-term neutrality, be that for network providers, service providers or cloud systems.
